Some big news hit the crowdfunding world in late 2022: StartEngine announced its plans to acquire fellow crowdfunding platform SeedInvest. Circle, which acquired SeedInvest back in 2019, entered into an agreement to divest SeedInvest to StartEngine. StartEngine announced the news on its blog in late October. It’s not a done deal yet, as FINRA needs to approve the acquisition. That should happen sometime within the next six months.

StartEngine is already one of the leading crowdfunding platforms by successful campaigns and deal volume. Acquiring SeedInvest — a platform known for having a rigorous vetting process and high-quality startup deals — seems like a smart move.

In this episode of Startup Insider, Allison Brickell, Vin Narayanan, and Andy Gordon discuss what this acquisition means for StartEngine, startups, and investors.
